Orders & shipping

Dispatch times are counted in working days from the Madrid workshop.

When does my order leave the workshop?

Orders placed before 14:00 CET on a working day leave the same day. Anything after that goes out the next working day.

Made-to-order straps and monogrammed pieces are cut after the order lands, so they take five working days before dispatch. The product page says so before you add the piece to the bag.

How long does delivery take?

Counted from dispatch, not from the order:

  • Spain1–2 days
  • Rest of Europe2–4 days
  • United States3–6 days
  • Australia & New Zealand5–8 days

Express is offered at checkout where the carrier serves the address.

Is shipping free?

Yes, on every order, to every destination we ship to. There is no minimum and no surcharge at checkout.

Can I change the delivery address after ordering?

Yes, while the order still reads Preparing in your account. Send the new address with your order number and we edit the label before it is printed.

Once the carrier has the parcel we cannot redirect it, but you can with the tracking link — most carriers allow one address change or a pickup point.

My tracking has not moved in two days

Scans go quiet between hubs, and on international routes a gap of two or three days at customs is normal. The parcel is usually moving even when the page is not updating.

After five days with no new scan, write to us with the order number and we open a trace with the carrier the same day.

Returns & exchanges

Thirty days, no reason required, provided the piece comes back unused.

What is the return window?

Thirty days from the day the parcel is delivered. The piece has to come back unused, with the dust bag and the authenticity card in the box.

Monogrammed and made-to-order pieces are excluded — they are cut for one person and cannot be resold.

How do I start a return?

Open the returns portal with your order number and the email you used at checkout. You pick the piece, pick a reason, and the label is issued straight away.

No email exchange is needed and no approval step sits in the middle.

Who pays for the return shipping?

We do, inside Europe and the United States. Elsewhere the return label costs $18 and is deducted from the refund.

If the piece arrived damaged or is not what you ordered, the return is free everywhere and we do not deduct anything.

When is the money back?

Within five working days of the parcel reaching the workshop, to the original payment method. Your bank then takes its own two to ten days to show it.

You get an email the moment the refund leaves our side, so you know which clock is running.

Can I exchange for another colour or size?

Faster route: order the piece you want now and return the first one. Stock moves quickly and a held exchange often loses the colour you were after.

If the piece is low in stock, write to us and we reserve it for seven days while the return travels.

Are sale pieces returnable?

Yes, on the same thirty-day terms. Only pieces marked final sale on the product page are excluded, and that label is shown before checkout, never after.

Repairs & care

Every piece can come back to the bench that made it, whatever its age.

Do you repair bags you have already sold?

Yes, any Varellune piece, at any age. Stitching, hardware, zips, edge paint and lining are all done in Madrid by the people who assemble the new pieces.

For the first six months, repairs to stitching and hardware are free. After that you get a quote before anything is touched.

How long does a repair take?

Ten to fifteen working days at the bench, plus transit both ways. Hardware that has to be ordered from the foundry adds about a week, and we tell you before you send the piece.

Can I buy a replacement strap?

Every strap we make is sold on its own, in each leather and length. The strap page lists which bags the hook fits, so you can check before ordering.

Not sure of the fit? Send the model name and we confirm.

How should I care for the leather?

Wipe with a dry cloth, keep the piece out of direct heat and store it in its dust bag with the shape held by paper, not folded flat.

Conditioner twice a year is enough. The full routine, leather by leather, is in the care guide.

The leather is changing colour. Is that a fault?

No. Our leather is vegetable-tanned, so it darkens and takes on a patina where hands and sunlight reach it. Two bags of the same colour will look different after a year of use.

Cracking, splitting or a seam giving way is another matter — that is a repair, and we want to see it.

Product & sizing

Where the pieces are made, what they are made of, and how to pick without holding one.

Where are Varellune bags made?

In Ubrique, in the south of Spain, a town that has been cutting leather goods for generations. Finishing, quality control and repairs happen at our Madrid workshop.

What leather do you use?

Full-grain calfskin, vegetable-tanned in Tuscany and Spain. Full-grain keeps the top layer of the hide intact, which is why it marks at first and then holds up for years.

Linings are cotton canvas or suede depending on the model, and every product page names both.

How do I choose a size without seeing the bag?

Each product page carries the three measurements, the strap drop, the weight, and a plain line about what fits — a 13-inch laptop, an A4 folder, a phone and a card holder.

Still unsure between two? Tell us what you carry on a normal day and we say which one.

Is there a warranty?

Six months against manufacturing defects, counted from delivery. It covers stitching, hardware and structure. It does not cover normal wear, patina, or damage from an accident.

Will a sold-out piece come back?

Core models are restocked every six to eight weeks. Seasonal colours are cut once and do not return.

The product page tells you which of the two you are looking at, and the restock notice emails you once — no series of reminders.

Payment & duties

What you see at checkout is what you pay. No bill arrives with the parcel.

Which payment methods do you take?

Visa, Mastercard and American Express, plus PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Shop Pay. Klarna in three instalments is available in most of Europe.

Will I pay import duties?

No. Duties and import taxes are calculated and charged at checkout for the United States, Europe, Australia and New Zealand, so the carrier has nothing left to collect at the door.

If a courier ever asks you for money on delivery, do not pay it — send us the notice and we settle it.

Which currency am I charged in?

The one shown in the top bar of the site, which you can change at any time. That is the currency your card is charged in, so your bank adds no conversion of its own.

Do you gift wrap?

Every order ships in the same rigid box with a linen ribbon, at no extra cost. Tick the gift box at checkout and we add a handwritten card with your message and leave prices off the packing slip.

Do you sell gift cards?

Digital gift cards from $100 to $1,000, delivered by email within minutes and valid for a year. They can be spent across several orders and the balance stays on the code.
